  • It is uncertain if the stylus will be released due to potential operational issues and screen damage concerns.

Apple developers are reportedly considering a modified stylus accessory for the company's upcoming foldable iPhone, which is expected to be announced on September 9. This potential move would mark a departure from the company's historical stance against styluses, famously articulated by Steve Jobs.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, sources indicate that a stylus has been developed internally. The accessory would be similar to the existing Apple Pencil, but designed to be shorter to match the size of the foldable iPhone. It would also attach magnetically to the side of the device.

Despite its development, Gurman cautioned that the stylus may not ultimately be released with the new phone. Concerns include the stylus potentially interfering with phone operations, detaching unexpectedly, or causing damage to the delicate folding screen. The existing Apple Pencil is currently available as an accessory for the iPad.
